Hygiene
Fancy Faces is dedicated to
providing the most hygienic service possible. We ensure that all
steps are taken to ensure that diseases of any kind are not
transferred from client to client through the medium of face
painting.
We use a clean sponge for
each and every client. We do however appreciate being presented with
clean faces to be painted. Please wipe little noses too.
All brushes and kits are
thoroughly cleaned after each event.
Professional Face Paints
We use only the highest
quality, professional approved products, which are purely designed
for use on the skin. Our imported paints are hypoallergenic and
comply with FDA & EEC cosmetic regulations. They include
antibacterial properties to help prevent against spreading
infection.
However, this does not
preclude an allergic reaction. Artists are not liable for allergic
reactions to paints, or what you remove them with. So if your child
has very sensitive skin, or is allergic to a range of common
products, please do discuss this before the child is painted. It is
always possible to carry out a patch test, or to paint a small
design on the hand (where skin is less sensitive) to be on the safe
side. As with any child having
peanut or food allergies, they depend on you to err on the side of
caution!
Why is paint safety Important? Please NEVER allow your child to be painted with acrylic or tempera paints. Some face painters are uninformed or prefer to use these inexpensive craft paints and glitters, despite the health risks. These types of paints can cause rashes, itching, burns, blisters, and even scars. They have not been approved by the FDA for use on skin, and most are specifically labeled as "Not for use on skin“. Many contain cancer-causing agents and other chemicals. Unlike cosmetic glitter, craft glitter should NEVER be used on the face, and certainly nowhere near the eyes where it can cause permanent eye damage!
Who Can be Painted?
Face painting is not
recommended for children under 2 years old.
If a child is reluctant to
have his or her face painted, the painter will NOT comply with the
wishes of the parent or caregiver over the desire of the child!
Young children do not always understand face painting - someone they
do not know is doing something to them, which they cannot see - so a
small design on the hand may be more enjoyable for them. They can
see what is being done, feel in control of the situation, and can
look at it and enjoy it for the rest of the day.
Fancy Faces will not paint
anyone who, in the opinion of the painter, appears to be suffering
from a cold sore, conjunctivitis or any other infectious skin
complaint. Similarly, eczema, open cuts and grazes are not suitable
surfaces to paint. However, a design on the cheek, hand, shoulder or
arm is perfectly possible.
We are unable to paint anyone
suffering from cold/flu symptoms. Hay fever sufferers are advised to
have a motif on the cheek or hand, etc.
Fancy Faces reserves the
right to refuse to paint anyone who is abusive, violent, or
intoxicated.
We will not remove another artists paint
and repaint our design over traces of unknown products.
Removing our Face Paint
The face paints easily washes
off with soap and water, or quality baby wipes. No peeling or
scrubbing required!
Our face paints generally wash off clothing very easily. Artists will use reasonable care, but are not responsible for damage to clothing or property.
Equipment
Please do not touch, or allow
children to touch or play with the paints and equipment.
Due to safety reasons,
children are not permitted to play in the artists’ work area.
However, should this happen the artists will not be liable for any
injuries.
Parents and
caregivers are responsible for their children at all times!
